These fish should be managed just like any other
sport fish. They are a natural resource. Let the professional entertainment fishing
outlets grow their own fish.

Something
needs to be done in the state of Iowa to put a limit on the amount of
fish the commercial fishermen can take from the Mississippi River at
one time. If the commercial fishermen keep taking fish out of this
river at the rate that they are now, there won't be any fish for my
grandchildren to fish for.

Public
fish should be left for public fishing. Trophy catfishing is really
starting to take of in popularity and it will generate far more money
for the state than commercial fishing. Protect the larger fish and
provide the public with the opportunity to catch trophy catfish and the
sport of catfishing will someday be as big as bass fishing and in turn
generate money for the state. I'm not saying to eliminate commercial
fishing, just regulate it like the everyday sport fishermen are. It's
not fair to sport fishermen to only be allowed a certain limit on
catfish while watching commercial fishermen hauling boat loads of
catfish from the same body of water on a daily basis. Please protect
our natural resources and provide our future generations the
opportunity to enjoy catching catfish like we all can today. Thank you.

It's
a shame that commercial fishermen go "unchecked" in so many areas. You
can't hardly fish oftentimes because they have the river covered in
nets. Something must be done!
Kent
Hollands - ND
ND has a rule of one fish over 24". this has helped the fishery greatly. We have to stop these people from over using the
resources that we all pay for.
Jeff
- NC
I support
the current 34 inch catfish regulation in Tennessee.
Melanie
- NC
I
support trophy catfish regulations Bob
- NC I
support catfish regulations in all states. Thomas
- NC I
support trophy catfish regulations in all states. David
Harrison - GA As
catfishing continues to grow with more recreational anglers and more
national tournaments, catfishing regulations become a necessary part of
species management. Please help protect Americas freshwater giants, the
catfish, for future generations to enjoy. Eric
Fincher - NC I will Defend it in any way needed. John
Lingafelt - NC If
allowed the commercial fisherman will destroy the sport fishing for
everyone in the state. The elected officials should represent the
people of the state and their concerns and not the individuals or
industry that just want to line their pockets without regards to the
natural resources that everyone in the state should be able to enjoy.
Thank you Jeff
Cole - NC Fishing for trophy cats is a fast growing sport, catfish should be a game fish and have regulations just like other game fish. Cary
Broecke - NC I
believe that there should be limits both size and creel on Catfish on
all bodies of water. We need to keep the trophies alive and take a few
small ones for table fare. I want my kids, kids to enjoy fishing also. Christopher
Stout - TN The
idea that large catfish over 34 inches are being harvested for sale to
eateries in absolutely absurd. I have spent in excess of $20,000 in a
few short years on the sport of catfishing and am outraged that this
great sport could be completely wiped out for a few dollars profit. Our
great state of Tennessee and it's current regulations concerning
catfish has been a benchmark for several surrounding states. Michael
Knapp - KY There is no reason the tax payers and sport fishermen should have to pay for these people to make a
living. If they want to run a pay lake they should have to buy their fish from fish
farms. The fish taken from our large rivers and lakes have advisories against eating
them. Do you really think the pat lake operators pass these advisories on to their customers?
